ATLanta
By going to school so close to Atlanta and having have visited a lot I've come to truly admire it. Atlanta is a true southern city. Not to big, not to small and plenty of traditions. Atlanta has a city part and then close surburbian areas, such as, Buckhead, Milton, Alpharetta, etc, who also consider themselves from "Atlanta".
Main Attractions:
Georgia Aquarium - one of the largest aquariums in the country.
Turner Field - Spring-Fall the Braves are "it" in the city of Atlanta. Fans come from all over the south to see the Braves play.
Phillips Arena - large venue for sporting events and concerts
Georgia Dome - also a a large venue for sporting events and concerts
Six Flags! - fun amusement park
Zoo Atlanta - who doesn't love the zoo?

Hotels:
Hotels in the city can be pretty pricey. When I visited for the SEC Championship game we stayed at the Country Inn and Suites on the outskirts of Atlanta. It was in a very safe area. They had buses that took you to local places, as well as, the city and with a call came and got you! The hotel itself was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helped us with locating the MARTA, their metro system, and things to do around the hotel. Looking at the front of the hotel with the huge wrap around porch and rocking chairs makes it feel like you're home. When you walk in you're embraced with a living room like setting with a fire place, a friendly face at the counter, and a common room with tv and tables on the other side. Everything was so welcoming about the hotel. It differently had the southern hospitality thing goin' on. I really enjoyed my stay at the Country Inn and Suites.
